Mississippi State football lands brothers Justin Ball, Cam Ball from transfer portal

STARKVILLE — Mississippi State football picked up two brothers in the transfer portal, with tight ends Justin Ball and Cam Ball announcing their commitments via social media Sunday.

Justin Ball spent the previous five seasons at Vanderbilt where he collected 22 receptions for 204 yards and a touchdown. He was a captain for the Commodores this year and started all 12 games, catching 15 passes for 131 yards.

As a prospect out of Gonzaga High School in Washington, D.C., in the 2019 class, Justin Ball was a three-star player, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He is reconnecting with former Vanderbilt quarterback Mike Wright, who is entering his second season at Mississippi State and first with Jeff Lebby as head coach.

Cam Ball, who was a three-star prospect in the 2022 class, spent the past two seasons at Buffalo. As a freshman, he appeared in just one game. This season, he caught eight passes for 82 yards in 10 games.
