Mississippi State baseball live score updates vs Georgia: Bulldogs battle in SEC play
STARKVILLE — Mississippi State baseball has had a promising start to SEC play, though the Bulldogs have lost their last two series against conference foes. MSU will look to snap that trend this weekend with a three-game set at Dudy Noble Field against Georgia.
Mississippi State (19-11, 4-5 SEC) opened the conference slate with a pair of wins in a series against LSU. MSU followed that up by taking one game at Texas A&M and one at Florida − despite taking a lead into the ninth inning of all three games against the Gators.

Though the series against UF dropped Mississippi State out of the USA TODAY Sports coaches poll, MSU is still the top unranked team receiving votes. D1Baseball and Baseball America project the Bulldogs as a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Georgia's start to conference play has been inconsistent. Georgia (23-6, 4-5) opened its SEC slate by getting swept at Kentucky. However, Georgia bounced back by sweeping Alabama at home. The Bulldogs lost two of three games at Tennessee last week.
Georgia's roster features Slate Alford, an infielder who transferred from MSU last offseason.
Game 1: Mississippi State 6, Georgia 1
MSU got another strong SEC start from Khal Stephen who only allowed one unearned run in 6⅔ innings of work. With Cam Schuelke allowing no runs across the remaining outs, Mississippi State was able to open the series with a victory. The Bulldogs got a run in the second off a sacrifice-fly from third baseman Logan Kohler before second baseman Amani Larry tacked on another with a home run in the third. First baseman Hunter Hines delivered an insurance run with a two-out single in the eighth before centerfielder Connor Hujsak blew it open with a three-run blast.
Game 2: Georgia 3, Mississippi State 2
UGA evened the series Saturday behind a game-winning solo shot in the ninth inning from Clayton Chadwick. However, the game wound up not making headlines. After a play at home plate in the eighth, benches cleared leading to a plethora of ejections. Due to the thinned lineup, Mississippi State was forced to play Stephen in left field for the final inning. Five players between the teams were suspended one game by the SEC.
Game 3: Mississippi State 9, Georgia 8
Alford's error in the eighth inning opened the door for MSU to secure the series win. With two runners on and one out, Hujsak hit a grounder up the middle that could have been an inning-ending double play. Instead, Alford's error allowed the tying run to score before a sacrifice fly from Bryce Chance scored the eventual winning run. MSU starter Nate Dohm returned to the mound for the first time since March 8, but he exited with an injury after throwing only 12 pitches. Tyler Davis threw three scoreless innings to close the rubber match.
