Miki Sudo breaks multiple records, wins women's Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest for seventh time
Miki Sudo didn’t disappoint Saturday. Sudo entered the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest as a heavy favorite to win the women’s competition, and exceeded those lofty expectations.
Sudo, 34, finished with 48 1/2 hot dogs. That figure broke the record for the most hot dogs eaten during the women’s event. Sudo’s previous personal record was 41 hot dogs. With the win, Sudo passed Takeru Kobayashi, who won six Nathan’s contests.
It was Sudo’s seventh straight win at the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest.

Prior to the event, Sudo told organizers she preferred to compete outside, and wasn’t a fan of the new format. Due to the threat of coronavirus, the contest took place inside. Competitors were separated by plexiglass barriers. Judges sat six feet apart while watching the event. Music was pumped in to inspire competitors to keep eating. Members of the production crew cheered on the eaters for extra motivation.
Following the win, Sudo credited her boyfriend and training partner, competitive eater Nick Wehry, who was defeated by Joey Chestnut in the men’s competition Saturday.
