Mike Woodson says 'point the finger at me.' But says he's not missing wide-open shots.
Indiana basketball has lost four in a row and eight of 10, so things in Bloomington and among the fan base are going as you'd expect.
As the Hoosiers fall off a cliff toward a losing record, Mike Woodson says to point the finger at him and not the players — after weeks of publicly calling out some of his players.
Insider: IU is a bad team playing badly. And Mike Woodson says blame him.

"I coach — every year I've coached — when things don't go well, I point the finger at me," Woodson said during Monday's Zoom with media members. "A lot of coaches won't do that, but at the end of the day, when things go well, I point the fingers at the players.
"That's just kind of been my nature of how I've coached over the years... You know, sometimes coaches don't want to take the blame and want to put all on the players. I'm not that type of coach..."
OK, sounds good.
"Even though I don't miss jump shots, wide open shots, and don't miss free throws..."
Oh, no.
"I'm still a big part of it and I take a lot of responsibility."
Oy.
Now, he's not wrong. IU misses a lot of open jump shots. IU is 12th in the Big Ten in 3-point percentage (31.5%) and last in made 3s per game (5.0). They're also last in free-throw percentage with a wretched 65.3% as a team.
But... "Even though I don't miss jump shots, wide open shots, and don't miss free throws..." sure sounds like blaming the players while saying blame me.
IU has four regular-season games remaining, starting with Tuesday's visit from Wisconsin. This season is all but lost unless the Hoosiers pull off a miracle in Minneapolis. For many, the end of this season can't come fast enough.
