The battle for the Paul Bunyan Trophy returns this weekend in Ann Arbor between Michigan and Michigan State football.

Both teams enter the matchup at Michigan Stadium with 4-3 records after the Wolverines fell 21-7 to Illinois and Michigan State beat Iowa 32-20 on Saturday. Michigan has won two straight meetings over the Spartans, including a 49-0 thumping in 2023 on its way to the national title.

Both teams look much different this season, with new coaching staffs and revamped rosters led by new quarterbacks, whether it's Aidan Chiles in East Lansing or the lingering question mark in Ann Arbor. Michigan enters the game as a 5½-point favorite, but has to find a way to recapture some momentum to avoid an upset at home.
