Michigan football's offensive line has won the Joe Moore Award as the best unit in the nation each of the past two seasons.

It doesn't look like Sherrone Moore plans on giving up that title any time soon.

On Friday, the Wolverines added a potential anchor to the future of that line when it secured a commitment from four-star offensive tackle Andrew Sprague, who visited Ann Arbor earlier this month for the spring game. The 6-foot-8, 275-pound prospect from from Kansas City (Missouri) Rockhurst is the No. 9 rated offensive tackle and No. 160 overall player in the class of 2024, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

"Prototype tackle frame," wrote 247 Sports' Allen Trieu. "Basketball player who showed really good coordination and ability on the court as a sophomore. His junior year in football, he filled in and grew into his body more and started becoming even more of a dominant force. He finishes his blocks and plays with aggression. Has solid bend for a taller guy. Can still continue to work on his footwork and general explosiveness.

"Has a lot of raw ability and is trending in the right direction judging on the strides made between his sophomore and junior years. Either tackle side is a possibility at this time although right now, he has played more on the left side and is comfortable there."

Sprague, whom the staff hopes will become the future protector of fellow 2024 commit and incoming five-star quarterback Jadyn Davis, chose U-M over Notre Dame, USC, Penn State and Oregon among many others. He is the third offensive lineman in the class, joining Luke Hamilton and Ben Roebuck.

His pledge gives U-M 11 commitments for 2024 — one five-star, seven four-stars and three three-stars — which is now rated the No. 3 group in the nation behind only Georgia and LSU.
