While Michigan football has its eyes set on its first 2023 fall practice on Wednesday, it got a welcomed addition for the future on Tuesday.

Kanka, who is rated No. 32 among DL and No. 313 nationally, stands 6-foot-4 and 255 pounds and was named first-team All-Conference and was an All-State honorable mention as a sophomore. He gets his football genes from his father, Tom, who starred at Hillsdale College before his time with the Detroit Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Defensive line coach Mike Elston served as Kanka's primary recruiter, which ultimately proved to be a significant factor.
