<b>Medal No. 1: </b>Michael Phelps wins the Olympic gold and sets a new world record in men's 400-meter Individual Medley in 4:08:26 ahead of compatriot Erik Vendt (left) and Hungary's Laszlo Cseh at the Olympic Aquatic Centre in Athens, Greece, August 14, 2004. It was the first of many Olympic medals for Phelps.

<b>Medal No. 2: </b>Michael Phelps and Lenny Krayzelburg of congratulate Ian Crocker and Jason Lezak of the United States relay team that won the gold medal and set a new world record of 3:30.68 in the men's swimming 4x100 meter medley relay. It's the only medal Phelps claimed for racing in the prelims.

<b>Medal No. 6: </b>Michael Phelps set an Olympic record with a time of 1:57.14 to win gold in the 200m IM in Athens.
