Miami Dolphins draft picks 2021: Round-by-round selections
Here is a 2021 NFL draft pick-by-pick breakdown for the Miami Dolphins:
Round 1 (No. 6 overall, from Eagles) - Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama: He's been compared to Tyreek Hill and will reunite with former Crimson Tide QB Tua Tagovailoa in Miami. Waddle and WR Will Fuller V will give Miami speed to burn on the outside, and Waddle could also greatly enhance the Fins' return teams. The AFC East better beware double moves from a player who averaged 10 yards after the catch. Draft tracker
Round 1 (18) - Jaelan Phillips, DE, Miami (Fla.): Miami's offseason, including its trade of DE Shaq Lawson and release of OLB Kyle Van Noy, were indicative that the pass rush needed significant work. Staying local to bring in a QB hunter like Phillips should be a boon to a franchise with a mandate to target Bills star Josh Allen if they're going to dethrone the AFC East champs. Draft tracker
Round 2 (36, from Texans) - Jevon Holland, S, Oregon: Holland had nine INTs over the 2018 and '19 seasons before opting out last year. He should upgrade Miami's shaky back line, which isn't on par with what should be a solid group of corners. Draft tracker
Round 2 (42, from Giants) - Liam Eichenberg, OT, Notre Dame: Giants GM Dave Gettleman trades down again, enabling Miami to get a new right tackle. Expect Eichenberg to guard southpaw QB Tua Tagovailoa's blind side after this week's trade of Ereck Flowers telegraphed a move of 2020 second-rounder Robert Hunt inside. Draft tracker
Round 3 (81) - Hunter Long, TE, Boston College: He caught 57 balls last year and should form a nice double-tight tandem in Miami with Mike Gesicki. Draft tracker
Round 7 (231, from Texans) - Larnel Coleman, OT, Massachusetts
Round 7 (244, from Raiders through Washington) - Gerrid Doaks, RB, Cincinnati
Miami Dolphins' last five top draft picks:
2020 (No. 5 overall): Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
2019 (No. 13 overall): Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson
2018 (No. 11 overall): Minkah Fitzpatrick, S, Alabama
2017 (No. 22 overall): Charles Harris, LB, Missouri
2016 (No. 13 overall): Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss
