More: Tua Tagovailoa, Calais Campbell among Miami Dolphins' 2024 captains

  • On his contract extension, talks about meeting with owner Stephen Ross over the deal: "I had dinner over at Mr. Ross' house a couple of weeks ago. I ate all of my steak." Asked if he ate all his vegetables (he's not a big veggie guy): "I did. They gave me minimal so they anticipated that."

  • On the team's eight captains: "Really good players. Off the top of my head, 28 Pro Bowls. How about that? Fast facts. Guys who have not only respect of their teammates, but they earned their stripes around the league."

  • On LB David Long being named a captain: "He tried to play it cool in front of his teammates."

  • On C Aaron Brewer and DT Benito Jones: They will participate in practice this week. "I feel great about our starting offensive line. I also feel great about the contingencies."

  • On why he feels great about the OL: "Because the adversity we've had since the spring has proven to be a wonderful opportunity to really get looks at players in different spots and got a lot of work, extra communication from all the individuals. So it's almost like they got extra reps from the spring into the fall just because of the different lineup changes."

  • On Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle: They'll be practicing today. No setbacks.

  • On depth at WR: Says team will take advantage of extra day of practice to decide which direction they'll go behind Hill and Waddle. "The bottom line is that I feel very good about where that room is at because of the existing assets that we had and then the people we were able to add I think fit the mode of what we're trying to do and trying to be as fast, physical with elite technique as possible and however we deploy that."
