Entire Mets-Yankees series postponed after positive COVID-19 tests
The remainder of the New York Mets-New York Yankees series is postponed this weekend “out of an abundance of caution,” MLB announced in a statement Friday. Two members of the Mets’ traveling party tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.
The first game of the Subway Series on Friday was already postponed. The Mets’ scheduled Thursday evening game at the Miami Marlins was also postponed as the team conducts contact tracing to contain the virus.

Out of an abundance of caution and to allow for additional testing and contact tracing to be performed within the New York Mets’ organization, the games between the Mets and New York Yankees at Citi Field on Saturday, August 22nd and Sunday, August 23rd have been postponed. Major League Baseball will continue to provide updates as necessary.
It was going to be the first three of six Subway Series games within 10 days. The first set was going to take place at the Mets’ Citi Field.
The two members of the Mets who tested positive are a player and a staff member, Newsday’s Tim Healey reported. The Mets are next scheduled to play Tuesday against Miami.
Mets undergo more testing, altered travel
The rest of the team was tested again late Thursday-to-early Friday upon arrival back in New York and then later Friday, Healey reported.
Only a portion of the team traveled home. An undisclosed number of players who were determined to have been in “close contact” with the two people who tested positive stayed back in Miami, per the report.
