Another Memphis Grizzlies game was coming down to the final minutes. Each turnover, missed shot and foul was being magnified at Gainbridge Fieldhouse against the Indiana Pacers.

The Grizzlies trailed by two points in the final minute when center Jalen Smith caught a pass in the paint and slammed it around the contested Memphis defense to give Indiana a four-point lead.

Smith's season-high 19 points helped push the Pacers past the Grizzlies, whose three-game winning streak ended 116-110 on Sunday.

Jaren Jackson Jr. led the Grizzlies (18-28) with 25 points. Vince Williams Jr. scored 20 points, but he'll be thinking about a couple of his misses around the rim in the fourth quarter.

The win gives the Pacers (27-20) a four-game winning streak.

Here are some takeaways from the game.

Stars missing in action

This matchup was much different than their first meeting on Dec. 19. That one included Tyrese Haliburton and Myles Turner for the Pacers, plus Desmond Bane and Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant making his home debut after a 25-game suspension. None of those four players suited up on Sunday, but that created opportunities for others.

Former first-round pick Bennedict Mathurin came off the bench and showed why he's the main contributor to the NBA's highest scoring bench unit. Memphis led by eight points in the first half before Mathurin scored 19 points.

Smith did the damage in the second half. The Grizzlies constantly dared him to make shots, and he made them pay by knocking down three 3-pointers.

GG Jackson scored 18 points off the bench for the Grizzlies.

Costly third quarter

Memphis held the high-powered Pacers offense to 51 points in the first half, but that success did not carry over to the third quarter. They outscored Memphis 41-29 and ended the quarter on a 9-2 run. Five Grizzlies turnovers led to 10 points.

Memphis finished the game with just 20 assists plus 13 turnovers. Indiana had 31 assists and 10 turnovers.

One last fourth-quarter surge

The Grizzlies didn't let their third-quarter play affect them in the fourth. John Konchar, who didn't score or attempt a shot through the first three quarters, made three consecutive baskets during a 10-point run that got Memphis within one point with 6:04 left in the game.

Jackson picked up his fifth foul during the run, and that limited his impact late in the game.

What's next

The Grizzlies are back in action at 7 p.m. Monday against the Sacramento Kings at FedExForum.
