Memphis Grizzlies' Marcus Smart leaves game with right ankle injury vs Nets

Memphis Grizzlies guard Marcus Smart was helped off the floor late in the first quarter of Wednesday's game against the Brooklyn Nets after appearing to injure his ankle.

Smart rolled his ankle after stepping on the foot of Brooklyn Nets forward Ziaire Williams, who played for the Grizzlies for three seasons before being traded to the Nets.

Smart hobbled off the floor at FedExForum until he was able to get assistance to the locker room. The Grizzlies ruled him out for the remainder of the game in the third quarter due to a right ankle injury.

Smart is the Grizzlies' top wing defender. Memphis usually puts him on the opposing team's top perimeter scorer.

Entering Wednesday, Smart was averaging seven points and 3.2 assists through four games.
