Memphis Grizzlies' Ja Morant gives positive update after leaving game vs Mavs due to injury

Ja Morant hobbled off the floor early in the third quarter of Monday's night Memphis Grizzlies matchup against the Dallas Mavericks and sent a collective scare through the fan base.

Morant injured his ankle after turning it in the second quarter and attempting to come back and play. Early signs are that his absence was precautionary, according to multiple reports.

“I’m good, It’s preseason, man," Morant told reporters in Dallas.

Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins categorized Morant leaving the game as precautionary. Morant is expected to be reevaluated when the team returns to Memphis.

The Grizzlies' next preseason game is at 7 p.m. CT Thursday at home versus the Charlotte Hornets. Regular-season action doesn't begin until Oct. 23 against the Jazz in Utah.

Morant doesn't seem too concerned at all, but the next step will be determining how much time, if any, the two-time All-Star might miss.

The Grizzlies are already without one expected starter in Jaren Jackson Jr., who is nursing a hamstring injury. Other than limited preseason reps with the entire starting lineup, Morant or Jackson's injuries don't seem like concerns for the regular season.
