Memphis Grizzlies injury updates: Latest on Marcus Smart, Desmond Bane and more
The Memphis Grizzlies provided injury updates on Friday afternoon on four key injured players.
Friday was the first official injury updates on Desmond Bane, Marcus Smart and Cam Spencer. Memphis also provided an update on Vince Williams Jr., who was reevaluated this week.
Here is the latest updates on each of Grizzlies' injured players.
Desmond Bane
The Grizzlies announced that Bane is listed as week-to-week while dealing with an oblique sprain. All things considered, this is good news. Bane suffered the injury on Wednesday during the Grizzlies' 119-106 loss. Over the next week, only one of the five Grizzlies games will be against a team with a current record that is over .500.
Marcus Smart
Smart was injured in the same game as Bane on Wednesday night after turning his right ankle. The injury is expected to keep him on a week-to-week timeline.
Vince Williams Jr.
One of the more anticipated returns on the docket is that of Williams. The defensive standout suffered a stress reaction in his left tibia before the preseason. He's now expected to return within the next two to four weeks.
Cam Spencer
Spencer sprained his ankle right before the start of preseason. He is also dealing with a talar stress reaction and will be reevaluated in three weeks.
Luke Kennard
The Grizzlies didn't issue an official update on Luke Kennard, and that's because he's closing on a return. Kennard was a full participant in practice last Tuesday and will now ramp up for his return within the next week. He's listed as out for Saturday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers because of a left foot muscle strain, but he should be back next week.
GG Jackson
GG Jackson has a much longer recovery than the aforementioned players. The 19-year-old Grizzlies wing was recently seen not wearing a boot on his right foot for the first time since foot surgery. He recently joined the "Run It Back" show and said he expects to return sometime in late December or early January.
