Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr. injured at team's first preseason practice
Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr. is now on the injury report.
Jackson felt hamstring tightness on Tuesday afternoon during the first Grizzlies practice of the season. The injury came on a drive to the basket.
“We’re anticipating it might be a strain,” coach Taylor Jenkins said. “Not sure of the timeline.”
Memphis is still three weeks away from the start of regular season play on Oct. 23 against the Utah Jazz. The final preseason matchup is Oct. 18, and the first game is Oct. 7 versus the Dallas Mavericks.
Santi Aldama would likely be next in line to play if Jackson misses time.
The Grizzlies are already without three other players. Vince Williams will be reevaluated in late October after suffering a stress reaction in his left shin, GG Jackson is aiming to come back in late November after having foot surgery and rookie guard Cam Spencer is currently in a boot while dealing with an ankle sprain.
