Memphis basketball: JJ Taylor, Jonathan Pierre out vs. Vanderbilt for disciplinary reasons
JJ Taylor and Jonathan Pierre missed Saturday's Memphis basketball game against Vanderbilt for unspecified disciplinary reasons, an athletic department spokesperson told The Commercial Appeal Saturday.
Taylor, a 6-foot-8 freshman wing, and Pierre, a 6-9 junior wing, have played sparingly this season. Taylor has seen action in just three games; Pierre has played in seven.
Taylor signed with the 23rd-ranked Tigers in November 2022 and reported to the team in May. The four-star recruit is from San Ysidro, California, where he was high school teammates with fellow top-100 prospect Mikey Williams, who signed with the Tigers last year but has not joined the team.
Pierre came to Memphis from Division II Nova Southeastern, which he helped win a national championship last season.
