Last night, New Jersey Devils forward Timo Meier rocks, Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies with a massive hit early in the third period which catch the eye of Leafs defensemen Simon Benoit.

Benoit appeared to challenge Meier to a fight after the hit. However, Meier rejected and that sent Benoit to the box for roughing.

It was a smart decision by Meier to not drop the gloves, given the score of the game and it being the third period. But some could make the argument, that the fight could have energized the group a bit more and helped them push for a late game comeback.

Regardless, the hit by Meier was heavy and hard but also clean, one I'm sure hockey fans loved to see.
