Brooke Collins, Piedmont

Class: Freshman

The story: She helped Piedmont finish as the runner-up behind Owasso in Class 6A at the state meet on Oct. 28 at Edmond Santa Fe. Collins placed 11th in the 5-kilometer run with a time of 18 minutes, 37.02 seconds.

Claire Collins, Piedmont

Class: Sophomore

The story: Another young standout from Piedmont, Collins is the older sister of Brooke Collins. Claire placed ninth at the state meet, finishing in 18:33.44.

Sienna Collins, Edmond Memorial

Class: Junior

The story: She placed 10th at the Class 6A state meet as she completed the race in 18:35.50.

Natalie Duggan, Edmond Santa Fe

Class: Junior

The story: She nearly claimed her first cross country state title as she finished as the Class 6A runner-up with a time of 17:35.32, while Owasso junior Bella Nelson won in 17:29.10. Duggan followed that performance with a victory at the Oklahoma Meet of Champions on Nov. 4 at North Rock Creek, where she finished in 17:55.49.

Aaliyah Joshua, Edmond Santa Fe

Class: Senior

The story: She placed fourth in 17:43.60 at the Class 6A state meet and was the runner-up at the Oklahoma Meet of Champions with a time of 18:17.09.

Morgan Kirkland, Edmond North

Class: Senior

The story: Kirkland was dominant throughout the season. An Arkansas signee, she placed third in 17:38.75 at the Class 6A state meet.

Kinley Kite, Norman North

Class: Senior

The story: A standout since her freshman season, Kite had another stellar year. The Oklahoma Christian University signee placed seventh in 18:25.21 at the Class 6A state meet.

Coach of the Year: Jason Schroeder, Pauls Valley

The story: He led Pauls Valley to its first girls state championship in any sport. The Panthers won the Class 4A crown as they finished with 78 points, while Poteau was the runner-up with 105. Pauls Valley's five runners who helped it earn that total were Laney English, Isabella Gutierrez, Rachel Hamilton, Keira Readnour and Kenzi Readnour.
