Meet Louisville-area Players of Year, all-region baseball teams for 6th, 7th, 8th regions
High school baseball coaches from the Sixth, Seventh and Eighth regions have selected top players from the 2024 season in their respective districts and regions.
Pleasure Ridge Park junior outfielder Brayden Bruner was named Sixth Region Player of the Year. He’s batting .420 with three home runs, 37 RBIs, eight doubles, nine triples, 45 runs scored and 33 stolen bases.
Ballard junior pitcher/first baseman Kaine Samuels was named Seventh Region Player of the Year. On the mound, he’s 7-1 with a 1.99 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 49 ⅓ innings. He’s also batting .453 with five home runs, 36 RBIs, 11 doubles and 30 runs scored.
Woodford County senior pitcher/infielder Taylor Penn was named Eighth Region Player of the Year. On the mound, the Western Kentucky University signee is 6-1 with a 0.41 ERA and 88 strikeouts in 51 innings. He’s also batting .383 with two home runs, 29 RBIs, nine doubles and 28 runs scored.
Coach of the Year honors went to PRP’s Brad Burns (Sixth Region), Ballard’s David Trager (Seventh Region) and Spencer County’s Stuart Dill (Eighth Region).
