Among the many reports that all is not well under Urban Meyer's regime in Jacksonville is that he and Marvin Jones had it out.

In the midst of a 2-11 start, the Jaguars head coach and veteran wide receiver recently had a "heated argument," NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported last week. Meyer's public and private criticism of the receiver group prompted Jones to leave the team's facility, according to the report. He returned only after being coaxed back by staff members. That's when he and Meyer got into it, per the report.

Jones is a 10-year veteran and a respected voice in the Jaguars locker room. That he was reportedly pushed to the brink by his head coach added more fuel to the speculation that Meyer is not long for the Jaguars — or the NFL.

Jones spoke with media on Wednesday and addressed the report for the first time. He didn't go into detail about the exchange. But he acknowledged that something happened.

"I'll just say this," Jones said. "There was something that was brought to my attention that I didn't like too well. I approached him about it, and we talked and we handled it like grown men. That's all I have to say about that. It was 2 1/2 weeks ago."

What handling it "like grown men" means is left up to interpretation until Jones and Meyer address exactly what happened between them. And that's not likely to happen. Jones appears to have had his public say on the issue. Meyer, meanwhile, flat-out denied Pelissero's report.

"It didn't happen," Meyer told reporters this week. He's also threatened to fire or cut whoever's leaking information from the Jaguars locker room.

"If there is a source, then that source is unemployed," Meyer told reporters after Sunday's 20-0 loss to the Tennessee Titans. "I mean, within seconds."
