Marvin Bagley III NBA free agency 2022: Forward, Detroit Pistons agree to new 3-year, $37 million deal
Restricted free agent forward Marvin Bagley III has reached an agreement with the Detroit Pistons on a three-year, $37 million deal, league sources told Yahoo Sports on Thursday.
He was traded to the Pistons last season after three-plus seasons with the Sacramento Kings and played 18 games in Detroit, averaging 14.6 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Bagley was the second overall pick by the Sacramento Kings in the 2018 NBA draft after one season at Duke.
For his career, Bagley has averaged 13.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. The top three players selected immediately after him in 2018 were Luka Doncic by Dallas at No. 3, Jaren Jackson Jr. by Memphis at No. 4 and Trae Young by Atlanta at No. 5.
Bagley missed 20 games as a rookie while dealing with knee issues. He then sustained a fracture in his right thumb the next season and was limited to 13 games before the remainder of the Kings’ season was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last season between the Kings and Pistons, Bagley played 48 games.
