Marquette's Liza Karlen honored as all-Big East first-team selection

Liza Karlen has been the picture of consistency for the Marquette women's basketball team this season, scoring in double figures in 28 of the Golden Eagles' 29 games.

The 6-foot-2 senior was rewarded for that effort Thursday when she was a unanimous pick to the 10-player all-Big East first team. Connecticut's Paige Bueckers was the league's player of the year.

Karlen is averaging 18 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. She scored a career-high 30 points at Seton Hall on Jan. 9.

MU fifth-year guard Jordan King was named to the all-Big East second team. She is averaging 13.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists. King has started all 153 games she has played with the Golden Eagles.

Sophomore guard Kenzie Hare was an honorable mention all-Big East pick. She is among the top shooters in the country at 42.4% on three-pointers.

The Golden Eagles will play Villanova in the Big East tournament Saturday.
