Marcus Smart on facing his former team with the Grizzlies: ‘Feb. 4 is definitely on my list’
When the Memphis Grizzlies played the Boston Celtics for the first time this season, former Celtics floor general Marcus Smart was out injured, and did not get a chance to face his former team. But when the Griz make the trip to TD Garden in February, the Flower Mound native anticipates some strong feelings on his part for his former home for nine seasons.
“I’m sure I will (get emotional),” said Smart to Andscape’s Marc J. Spears in a recent interview. “I’m letting that be a surprise of its own. But those fans are phenomenal there. When they love you, they love you.”
“And I think that comes with just the history that Boston has of winning, and they win, and they love hard, and they hate to lose,” added Smart. “So, I’m definitely looking forward to seeing the reaction from those fans.”
