Marcedes Lewis makes history against the Ravens in London
If you guessed the first three-touchdown tight end of 2017 would be Marcedes Lewis, step right up. You’re a winner.
Before Sunday morning’s clash in London, Lewis had scored three times in his past three seasons. Then he scored thrice against the Ravens in London.
The big-bodied tight end was simply dominant at Wembley Stadium, scoring in the first quarter and twice more in the third. His first score came off play action and a fake end-around. It gave the Jaguars a 10-0 lead.
On his second score, Lewis simply beat everyone up the seam.
Just a few minutes later, the Blake Bortles-to-Lewis connection worked its London magic again.
That Lewis scored three touchdowns in a single game is almost as shocking as his team’s dominance. Lewis, 33, has only scored more than four touchdowns in a season once: way back in 2010, when he scored 10 and was a Pro Bowler. Through three weeks in 2017, he already has three scores.
Lewis joins some pretty impressive company with his big day. Only two other Jaguars — Allen Robinson and Jimmy Smith — have caught three scores in a single game.
