The New Orleans Saints aren’t just carving through opponents; they’re actively costing them money.

The NFL has fined the Philadelphia Eagles’ Malcolm Jenkins $13,369 for flipping the bird in frustration at the Saints’ Sean Payton after last weekend’s loss.

Jenkins: Burned on fourth down

Jenkins got burned on a 37-yard touchdown pass to Alvin Kamara that came on a fourth-and-7 play. Oh, and the Saints were leading 38-7 at the time. That was enough to get Jenkins incensed enough that he flipped off the Saints’ sideline:

After the game, Jenkins admitted that it was aimed at Payton: “I’m a competitor, I love Sean to death. I know what type of guy he is, what type of coach he is,” Jenkins said. “That was more so personal between me and him. But we talked after the game, and it’s all good.”

Payton: ‘He’s a tremendous player’

Payton didn’t have a problem with the gesture or with Jenkins, who left the Saints in 2014. “Malcolm, I think the world of him,” Payton said. “He’s a tremendous player, and I hate that he got out of here. That was probably as big a mistake as we’ve made here in 13 years. He’s made up of all the right things, and he’s a tremendous competitor.”

But all that goodwill wasn’t enough to stave off the NFL’s disciplinarians, who decided that Jenkins warranted a fine … on top of all the other pain that the Eagles are suffering this year.
