COLLEGE STATION, Tx. – Top spot in the Southeastern Conference is up for grabs.

As the 12th Man gets to swaying and chanting, No. 7 LSU football (6-1, 3-0 SEC) and No. 14 Texas A&M (6-1, 4-0 SEC) will duke it out for No. 1 in the conference under the lights inside Kyle Field Saturday night (6:30 p.m., ABC).

A&M has never been 5-0 in SEC play since joining the league in 2012. For the Tigers, they were picked to finish fifth in the SEC in the preseason but have exceeding expectations to this point to that sets up the marquee matchup.

LSU's defense has turned a corner the last few weeks despite losing Jacobian Guillory and Harold Perkins Jr. Sophomore linebacker Whit Weeks has emerged as a big-time playmaker while the LSU's secondary, led by cornerback Zy Alexander has helped the unit limited opponents to scoring just 19 points the last six quarters.

The Aggies are led by their defense as well. Defensive end Nic Scourton ranks second in the SEC in SEC games in tackles-for-loss with 8.5 in four games. In the defensive backfield, Will Lee has six passes defended in A&M's four league contests.

Nussmeier threw the pick to Texas A&M's D.J. Mayes, who returned it down the 8-yard line. On the next play, A&M QB Marcel Reed takes his first snap of the game 8 yards to the house.

Nussmeier hits Anderson in stride. The receiver shook off a tackle en route to the end zone for the 76-yard no doubter.

Garrett Nussmeier threw a touchdown pass to tight end Mason Taylor that cashed in a fumble from Texas A&M running back Le'Veon Moss on the previous drive. LSU led 10-0 with 3:51 left in the opening period.

Moss responded though, amassing 37 yards on the ground on the ensuing drive including the 7-yard TD run that got the Aggies on the board.
