LSU football cornerback Javien Toviano reinstated after suspension following arrest

BATON ROUGE — LSU football sophomore cornerback Javien Toviano has been reinstated by LSU following his arrest on voyeurism back on July 21, LSU football head coach Brian Kelly told reporters Thursday following the team's first preseason practice.

Toviano reported back to campus Wednesday with the team and was on the field for the Tigers' first practice but did not participate during drills.

"He was suspended from the university and was reinstated," Kelly said. "He's back in football activities. We'll kind of get him going again, back in the mix. He'll be a competitive player for us; he played for us last year.

"We'll get him going as he works through his legal matters."

The 19-year-old was suspended from the university after he turned himself in on suspicion of video voyeurism charges. Per the arrest warrant, Toviano allegedly recorded himself having sex with a woman without her consent by using a clock with a built-in camera that was near the bed.

The woman, who claims she told Toviano she didn’t want to be recorded, said she found videos of the two on Toviano’s iPad. The videos, according to the arrest report, were taken on July 5 and 6.

Police were able to find three videos on Toviano’s iPad with a search warrant. On the videos, investigators were able to identify Toviano and the woman.

For LSU last season, he played in all 13 games, started the final five games, and finished with 33 tackles and one pass defended. Toviano was a four-star recruit, rated No. 57 nationally, from Arlington, Texas.
