LSU baseball live score updates at Mississippi State: Tigers open SEC play
Conference play has arrived for LSU baseball.
The No. 2 Tigers (16-2) have opened the year strong, with a nonconference win over then No. 14 Texas on the resumé already. And now Jay Johnson's club opens up Southeastern Conference play, carrying plenty of that momentum.
LSU travels to Mississippi State (13-5) for a three-game set to open up SEC play at Dudy Noble Field with things getting going at 6 p.m. Friday before playing at 4 p.m. Saturday. The series wraps up Sunday in Starkville at 1 p.m. CT.
Johnson told reporters following the Tigers two-game midweek series sweep over North Dakota State that he expects his pitching staff to live in the strike zone and try and work ahead of hitters.
Luke Holman (4-0, 0.00 ERA) is expected to get that agenda rolling for LSU as he'll start on the bump Friday night.
Mississippi State will counter with sophomore Evan Siary (0-1, 4.50 ERA), who has started one game in the early going this season. He has four total appearances as he's given up three runs in six innings pitched.
