A look at Oklahoma City's boys high school basketball Fab 10 rankings for Feb. 8

The first week of February saw a host of upsets and down-to-the-wire action in the final month of regular season Oklahoma high school basketball.

And with first-ranked Edmond North's loss to Moore on Tuesday night, could we see some shuffling in this week's Fab 10 rankings?

Each week, The Oklahoman’s Jordan Davis takes a look at the top high school boys basketball teams in the Oklahoma City area.

Here are the rankings for Feb. 8:

1. Dale (21-2)

Last week: 2

Up next: Friday at Latta, Monday at Cashion

What to know: The Pirates overtake Edmond North as the top spot this week. Both teams previously stood unbeaten in Oklahoma. Now, Dale stands alone. It's on a seven-game win streak after defeating No. 16 Vanoss on Tuesday. OU commit Dayton Forsythe and the two-time defending Class 2A champion Pirates have shown no signs of slowing down.

2. Edmond North (16-3)

Last week: 1

Up next: Friday at Capitol Hill, Tuesday vs. Piedmont

What to know: Edmond North has fallen from the top spot for the first time in over a year. The Huskies dropped their first game against Oklahoma competition since 2022 with a 19-point loss to Moore on Tuesday. However, don't get it twisted. The two-time defending Class 6A state champions remain the favorites to win yet another state title heading into the final week of the regular season.

3. Douglass (12-3)

Last week: 3

Up next: Thursday vs. Dynamic Prep (Texas), Saturday vs. Star Spencer

What to know: The defending Class 4A state champions, Douglass, toppled Class 3A Victory Christian, 58-48, last Friday. New addition and OU football commit Jaden Nickens had a dominant debut, scoring 25 points and six rebounds to lead the Trojans to their 11th consecutive win. With the addition of Nickens alongside Davon Scott, Jaden Williams, and Landry Ballard, expect the Trojans to push for one of the top two spots in the Fab 10 rankings next week.

4. Midwest City (17-3)

Last week: 4

Up next: Friday vs. Lawton MacArthur, Tuesday at Southeast

What to know: The mighty Bombers continue their reign atop Class 5A. Midwest City defeated rival Del City last week to remain undefeated in district play. Junior guard and Oklahoma State commit Carlsheon Young has been on a tear so far this season for the Bombers as he's averaging 25 points and seven rebounds.

5. Crossings Christian (16-4)

Last week: 6

Up next: Thursday at Carl Albert, Tuesday at Guthrie

What to know: The Knights rise a spot in the rankings after three consecutive near 20-point wins, including a recent win over Oklahoma Christian School. Crossings Christian has been led by star guard Cal Furnish.

6. Oklahoma Christian School (18-2)

Last week: 5

Up next: Friday vs. Jones, Tuesday at Bethany

What to know: The Saints fall one spot in the rankings due to a loss to Crossings Christian over a week ago. However, OCS remains dominant thanks to the play of three-star big man Luke Gray. On Tuesday, he continued his hot streak after recording 35 points and 24 rebounds against defending Class 3A champion Millwood.

7. Choctaw (16-4)

Last week: 7

Up next: Friday vs. Ponca City, Tuesday vs. Jenks

What to know: Choctaw appears to have bounced back after losing to Jenks. Its overtime win over a tough Broken Arrow team last week sparked a three-game win streak for the Jermaine Simpson-led Yellowjackets. Ja'Mon Valentine and Camden Hyman remain stellar as they sit atop District 6A-4.

8. Norman (16-4)

Last week: 8

Up next: Friday vs. Lawton, Tuesday at Lawton Eisenhower

What to know: Cory Cole's Tigers are on a roll over with a 11-game win streak.

9. Moore (16-4)

Last week: NR

Up next: Friday at Mustang, Tuesday at Putnam City North

What to know: The newest addition to the Fab 10 power rankings are the Darian Grant and Tristan Hankins-led Lions, which have been on a roll in the new year. After a dominant 19-point win over reigning Class 6A champion Edmond North on Tuesday, Moore has won 10 consecutive games while defeating each top team in the toughest district in 6A.

10. Piedmont (16-5)

Last week: 9

Up next: Friday vs. Deer Creek, Tuesday at Edmond North

What to know: The Braedon Lloyd-led Wildcats have been on a tear in 2024. As a loss to Norman North last week drops them a spot in the rankings, Piedmont has won six of its last seven games, including a tournament win at the Four State Classic in Kansas.

Outside looking in

Carl Albert (16-4): The Titans have been on a tear, winning 13 of its last 14 games by an average margin of 27 points.

Guthrie (18-3): The Bluejays' have dominated opposing 5A competition all year long and have won seven of its last eight games heading into a matchup with El Reno on Friday.

Deer Creek (16-5): The Antlers remain outside of the Fab 10 after close losses to Moore and Edmond North in the past week.

North Rock Creek (18-3): The Cougars have been on a tear over the last few weeks.
