Look: Former LSU baseball star Dylan Crews hits first career Spring Training home run with Nationals

Former LSU baseball star Dylan Crews is making noise with the Washington Nationals in his first Spring Training season.

Crews, who was selected second overall in the 2023 MLB Draft behind his former Tigers teammate, Paul Skenes, hit his first career Spring Training home run on Wednesday off Miami Marlins starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo, who allowed 22 home runs in over 178 innings pitched last season.

So far this spring, Crews is 4-for-14 batting (.286) with a home run, four RBIs and two steals. He also has a 1.087 OPS.

The 22-year-old outfielder played three seasons with LSU, winning a national championship in his final season with the Tigers in 2023. Crews batted .426 with 18 home runs and 70 RBIs last season en route to winning the Golden Spike Award, given to the nation's best amateur player.

Crews, MLB's No. 7 prospect, is projected to make his debut this season. He passed Rookie ball and Class A with flying colors last season, before being promoted to Double-A, where he struggled in only 20 games.
