New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen had updates on two of his WRs Wednesday afternoon, and neither were good.
Chris Olave will not play Thursday night against the Denver Broncos due to the concussion he sustained in the Saints' 51-27 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6. He took a helmet-to-helmet collision in the first quarter and hasn't seen the field since, missing the rest of the game and every practice this week.
The news is worse for Rashid Shaheed, who left last week's game in the 4th quarter after injuring his knee. He's having meniscus surgery on Thursday, and Allen didn't give more info than that. We don't know if he'll be out for a few weeks, or much longer.
The Saints are pretty banged up right now, but they are getting a break soon. After Thursday's game, they have 10 days before their next game on Oct. 27. They can do a lot of healing in 10 days.

Giants LT Andrew Thomas out for season after Lisfranc surgery
The New York Giants have lost their star left tackle, Andrew Thomas, for the season. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Thomas had surgery on a Lisfranc injury (which involves the joints and ligaments in the middle of the foot) on Wednesday morning, and he will miss the remainder of the year. Thomas injured his foot in the third quarter of the Giants' Sunday night loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. He somehow managed to finish out the game, but did it with a limp that got worse and worse as time went on.
Thomas is one of the few bright spots for the Giants this season, and one of the reasons the offensive line has improved so much since last year. He signed a five-year, $117 million contract extension last summer, and this will be the second straight season he's missed significant time.
The trade came less than 12 hours after the Jets delivered an ugly 23-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills on "Monday Night Football." It was the team's first game since firing head coach Robert Saleh, and the presence of the newly-named interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich, as well as new offensive signal caller Todd Downing, wasn't enough to stop the Jets from making costly mistakes.
Russell Wilson reportedly set to get first-team reps
The Pittsburgh Steelers are trending toward making a change at quarterback. Veteran Russell Wilson, who signed with the Steelers in March, is finally healthy enough to start taking first-team reps, and will reportedly do just that this week. That sets him up to make his Steelers debut this weekend when they face the New York Jets.
Aidan Hutchinson expected to miss the rest of the season
The Lions' pass-rushing specialist is leading the NFL in sacks with 6.5, but was carted off the field in Dallas on Sunday with what was confirmed to be a broken tibia. He had surgery on it in Dallas and is expected to miss the rest of the 2024 season, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Hutchinson had 11.5 sacks in 2023 and made his first Pro Bowl last season.
Is the heat turning up on Mike McCarthy in Dallas?
If you were to just look at the Dallas Cowboys' road results this year, you'd find a 3-0 team that, while it has some things to clean up, has been able to come away with a couple close wins, even beating the 4-2 Steelers in Pittsburgh. But at home, the Cowboys have barely been competitive, and for all but two quarters, have gotten entirely stomped on home turf. The Cowboys have given up 119 points — 39.7 points per game — at home in three games this season.
After the worst home loss of the Jerry Jones era — coincidentally on his 82nd birthday — Jones said he's not considering a coaching change, even as questions about Mike McCarthy continue to swirl. The Cowboys are off in Week 7, and play their next two games on the road.

Davante Adams will make Jets debut Sunday vs. Steelers
Davante Adams is getting right down to business with the Jets. Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich said his new wide receiver will be making his debut Sunday against the Steelers.
The Jets should really talk more about the healing powers of their facilities. Adams hasn't played since Week 3 when he injured his calf, but after just a few days with his new team, he's ready to get back on the field.
Jeff Ulbrich says the plan is for Davante Adams to play for the Jets Sunday night at Pittsburgh. And he doesn't foresee it being a huge hurdle for Adams to get acclimated to the offense.
Commanders running back Brian Robinson injured his knee before halftime vs. the Browns in Week 5, and then missed Week 6 after not practicing all week. But Robinson has now returned to practice, which means he could be healthy enough to play when Washington takes on Carolina on Sunday.
Dan Quinn said Brian Robinson will practice today. DE Dorance Armstrong will not practice today. Quinn also said they're hoping Javontae Jean-Baptiste's stay on IR will be short.
Giants WR Malik Nabers making 'progress' after concussion
Giants WR Malik Nabers has been out since sustaining a concussion in Week 4, but he's taking positive steps in his recovery. Head coach Brian Daboll said the rookie will return to practice Wednesday.

Lions sign DL Alim McNiell to 4-year extension with $55M guaranteed
The Detroit Lions have signed defensive lineman Alim McNiell to a four-year, $97 million extension to his rookie contract with $55 million in guaranteed money, NFL Network reports.

Browns reportedly trading WR Amari Cooper to Bills
The Cleveland Browns are trading wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Bills, per multiple reports, including The Athletic's Dianna Russini. The Browns are reportedly getting a third-round pick in return.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Bills get Cooper and a 2025 sixth-round pick, while Cleveland gets a 2025 third-round pick and a 2026 seventh-rounder.

Jets reportedly give Haason Reddick 'short window' to seek trade
Reddick, who has been holding out on the Jets due to salary demands since they traded for him in March, has a new agent, and that agent is reportedly trying to get him out of New York and onto another team.
The Jets have given Haason Reddick and his reps a short window to seek a trade, per sources. His new representation, Drew Rosenhaus, has been reaching out to teams over the last 12 hours to gauge interest.
This injury report for the New Orleans Saints is, well, concerning. QB Derek Carr (oblique), LB Pete Werner (hamstring), WR Rashid Shaheed (knee), WR Chris Olave (concussion) OL Cesar Ruiz (knee) and OL Lucas Patrick (chest) all were listed as DNP on Monday.

Report: Jaguars trade DL Roy Robertson-Harris to Seahawks
Seattle gets a 2026 late-round pick in return, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo. Robertson-Harris will have to make the 10-hour trip from London to Seattle before Sunday's Seahawks game in Atlanta.
Allen is seeking a second opinion on the injury, according to the report. He suffered the injury in Sunday's 30-23 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The precise nature of the injury isn't clear.
Titans head coach Brian Callahan told reporters that running back Tyjae Spears is considered week to week with a hamstring injury. If Spears misses time, that means a likely workhorse role for starting running back Tony Pollard, who's tallied 421 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns in five games since joining the Titans from the Cowboys this season. Spears has 190 total yards and one touchdown as Pollard's backup.

Miami HC Mike McDaniel says he expects QB Tua Tagovailoa back in 2024
Good news for the Miami Dolphins: Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is likely to return to the field sometime this calendar year, head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters on Monday. Tagovailoa, who suffered a concussion against the Buffalo Bills on September 15, was placed on injured reserve two days later.
Tagovailoa can return to practice on October 23 after his IR stint is finished, but McDaniel said that a return this week is unlikely.
"As far as timelines go, I know he's not playing this week," McDaniel said in a press conference. "I do expect to see him playing football in 2024, but where that is exactly, we'll let the process continue."
Lions DE Aidan Hutchinson undergoes successful surgery
Hutchinson sustained a gruesome leg injury in the Lions' thumping of the Cowboys on Sunday, but is now on the road to recovery after undergoing successful surgery. He broke his fibula and tibia and there is currently no timeline for when he'll be able to return to the field.
Reddick has hired new agents who have already spoken with the Jets, and they plan to have further discussions on Monday night when the Jets take on the Bills.
“We look forward to working with the Jets to get this resolved as soon as possible,” Rosenhaus told ESPN's Adam Schefter. “Haason would like to be a New York Jet for years to come and our goal is to make that happen.”
