Monday Night Football: Ravens dominate Buccaneers, Cardinals stun Chargers with game-winning field goal

The Buccaneers lost both receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin to injuries in the loss to Baltimore

Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens had no issues on Monday night.

The Ravens cruised to a dominant 41-31 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first game of a "Monday Night Football" doubleheader at Raymond James Stadium in Florida. It marked their fifth straight win, and pushed them to 5-2 on the season.

After falling into a 10-point hole right away, the Ravens put up 34 unanswered points to completely stun Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers. Jackson threw for five touchdowns, two of which went to tight end Mark Andrews, and Derrick Henry racked up 169 rushing yards — thanks in part to a wild 81-yard run in the second half.

The Buccaneers put up 21 points in the fourth quarter, but their push came way too late to give them a realistic shot at the win. They lost both star wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, too. Godwin went down in the final minutes with a gruesome leg injury, and had to be carted off the field.

In the other game of the night, Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals mounted a perfect game-winning drive to beat the Los Angeles Chargers 17-15 at State Farm Stadium.

The Cardinals, after giving up a fifth field goal to Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker and falling down a point just inside of the two minute warning, marched down the field quickly to set up a 32-yard game-winning field goal from Chad Ryland.

Justin Herbert threw for 349 yards in the loss for the Chargers, but he didn't throw a touchdown. He led them on a long eight-minute drive in the fourth quarter to set up Dicker's fifth field goal, but they left too much time on the clock for James Conner and the Cardinals. Conner ran for 101 yards, had another 51 receiving yards, and set up the final field goal with a huge 33-yard reception on the winning drive.

The win pushed Arizona to 3-4 on the season while the Chargers fall to 3-3.

  • Chargers-Cardinals: Chargers looking at a fifth field goal?

Justin Herbert had the Chargers moving, and Jim Harbaugh is losing it on the sidelines after a pass interference call was waived off, but the Cardinals just picked up a critical stop on third down.

  • Ravens-Bucs: Touchdown Tampa

Baker Mayfield finds a wide open Rachaad White, who waltzes into the end zone untouched.

Ravens lead is cut to 41-31 with 1:58 to play. Another onside kick likely coming.

  • Chargers-Cards: Kyler Murray sprints for a go-ahead TD!

Kyler Murray scrambles for 44-yard Arizona touchdown run, and just like that the Cardinals are back in front.

    It's a 14-9 lead.

  • Ravens-Bucs: Tampa scores, gets onside recovery

Baker Mayfield and Co. march down the field quickly for a 9-play, 70-yard scoring drive capped by Bucky Irving's 1-yard TD.

Then the Bucs manage to recover their onside kick. And they're still fighting in this one!

It's 41-24 Ravens with under 4 minutes to play.

  • Chargers-Cards: Bolts take the lead with a FG

Cameron Dicker caps a long Chargers drive with a 28-yard field goal after the offense stalls out at the 10-yard line. Dicker has scored all nine points for LA tonight.

LA takes a 9-7 lead late in the 3rd quarter.

  • Touchdown Ravens!

This Baltimore offense can't be stopped. This time it's a pass to Derrick Henry for a 13-yard touchdown.

That makes FIVE TD passes for Lamar Jackson.

The rout continues in Tampa. It's a 41-18 Baltimore lead.

  • Ravens-Bucs: Derrick Henry breaks a big run

The Ravens RB is off to the races again, this time with QB Lamar Jackson laying a block.

  • Chargers-Cards: Arizona stopped on 4th down

The Cardinals bring in backup QB Clayton Tune to try a QB sneak on both 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1. He gets stuffed both times, and the Chargers take over on downs near midfield.

  • Ravens-Bucs: Touchdown, Tampa

Finally, the Buccaneers have found the end zone again. Baker Mayfield hit Rachaad White for an 11-yard touchdown. They converted the 2-point conversion, too, so Baltimore's lead is now 34-18.

  • Ravens-Bucs: Bucs take over after fumble

Well, there's the first slip of the night for Baltimore. Lamar Jackson threw it back to Zay Flowers, who dropped it for the fumble and the Buccaneers recovered. They initially ran it back for a touchdown, but that play was called back.

So Baker Mayfield will take over at the Baltimore 30. If a comeback is going to happen, they'll need a touchdown here quick.

  • Chargers-Cardinals: Chargers forced to punt out of the break

The Chargers' first drive out of halftime started out promising, but a holding penalty and a sack pushed them way back and eventually forced them to punt. So the Cardinals will take over inside their own 10.

  • Ravens-Bucs: Deep shot to Rashod Bateman puts Baltimore in full control

What a throw. Baltimore may have just iced the game with a 49-yard touchdown pass from Lamar Jackson to Rashod Bateman. Facing second-and-17 from midfield, the Ravens did not opt for a conservative play to get closer to the chains.

Instead, Jackson unloaded with a strike to Bateman from beyond midfield that a streaking Bateman caught in stride for the score. That's now 27 unanswered points for a 27-10 Ravens lead midway through the third quarter.

  • Chargers-Cardinals: Arizona up 7-6 at half

The Cardinals sacked Justin Herbert on third down, which set up another 50-yard field goal from Cameron Dicker. The Cardinals will take a one-point lead into halftime.

Justin Tucker paid the effort off with a 52-yard field goal to extend Baltimore's lead to 20-10.

Arizona nearly sacked Justin Herbert there on third down, but it still got the stop and forced a punt. So the Cardinals will take over again at their own 27 with about four minutes left in the half.

  • Ravens-Bucs: Key halftime stats

The Bucs got off to a hot start with a touchdown and field goal on their first two drives sandwiching a stop on defense that included two sacks of Lamar Jackson.

But the tide turned quickly as Mike Evans got injured and the Ravens ran off 17 unanswered points aided by two Baker Mayfield interceptions to go into halftime with a 17-10 lead.

That was a perfect drive for the Cardinals, who went nearly 80 yards before Kyler Murray hit Greg Dortch for a 5-yard touchdown grab. Murray went 5-of-5 on that drive, too.

They lead now 7-3 with 5:40 left in the half.

  • Chargers-Cardinals: Kyler Murray out for 1 play

  • Chargers-Cardinals: Cameron Dicker from 59 yards

Following his second interception of the game, Marlon Humphrey is going to the locker room to check out a knee injury

With the Ravens on offense just before the half, Humphrey might be getting a head start to the locker room. For what it's worth, he walked under his own power.

  • Chargers-Cardinals: Arizona punts again

The Chargers force another Arizona punt after stalling their drive out near midfield, so they'll take over at their own 10 again.

  • Ravens-Bucs: Baker Mayfield picked off again

Baker Mayfield throws his second interception in as many possessions. Mayfield was looking for Chris Godwin approximately 20 yards near the right sideline, but underthrew the pass and Marlon Humphrey picked it off. He has two interceptions in the game.

  • Chargers-Cardinals: Yikes, Chargers

Jalen Reagor was absolutely wide open, but he fumbled into the end zone right as he was about to score. That's a brutal turnover for the Chargers.

  • Ravens-Bucs: Ravens jump up 14-10

Lamar Jackson hit Rashod Bateman for a 59 yard gain earlier in the drive, which set up a perfect 18-yard toss to Justice Hill for the score. Just like that, the Ravens are in the lead.

  • Chargers-Cardinals: Cardinals punt after weird opening drive
