For the first time, the Canyon of Heroes in New York City will play host to a parade for the New York Liberty, who captured their first WNBA championship in a five-game series win over the Minnesota Lynx. Jonquel Jones was named the series MVP, averaging 17.8 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game on 56% shooting from the floor in the Finals.
The day of celebration in New York will be a long one, getting started at 10 a.m. ET in Battery Park and proceeding down Broadway through the Canyon of Heroes. After a scheduled two-hour ride, the first-ever ticker-tape parade in New York for a women's sports team will come to a stop at City Hall in Manhattan, where players and the WNBA championship trophy will take the stage.
The celebration will continue with a fan event at Barclays Center in Brooklyn at 7 p.m. ET.

It's Liberty parade day! Here's how you can watch
Are you swathed in Liberty swag? Are you prepared for Ellie's antics? Then you are 100% ready for the Liberty championship parade, which is happening right now in NYC.
We'll bring you as many highlights as possible here, but you can also livestream the parade on several local New York news stations.
Sisters Joan Valentine and Janice Battle have been @nyliberty fans since the start, and season ticket holders since 1998. Their emotions were up and down at Sunday’s game. “After 28 years, I cried,” Battle said. pic.twitter.com/Gn1oxjJzFD
There is excitement everywhere for every Liberty player, but no one is more excited to be on that float than Jonquel Jones. Celebrate your heart out, girl.
