Game recap: IU women's basketball falls to Iowa. Caitlin Clark has 30 points, 11 assists
The Indiana women's basketball team is on the road against the No. 3-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes tonight.
IU (14-1 overall, 5-0 Big Ten), ranked No. 13 in the country, will try and slow down Iowa (16-1 overall, 5-0 Big Ten) and Caitlin Clark. While Clark still has a year of eligibility left in college, she is widely expected to be the top pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft if she declares. Which team owns that first overall pick? The Hawkeyes started slow but ended up making 15 of 36 3-point attempts (42%). Overall, Iowa shot 49% (30-61).
Indiana couldn't stop Iowa's prolific offense, but it did shoot pretty well from the floor (43%). Though the Hoosiers were 5 of 20 from the 3-point line. Mackenzie Holmes led the way with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.

Caitlin Clark made a long 3-pointer from the Hawkeye logo. Oh my. Clark has 30 points. Mackenzie Holmes leads IU with 14 points, but stopping Clark has been a problem.

Gabbie Marshall hit another 3 to make it 59-43 Iowa. However, Yarden Garzon came right back with a 3-pointer of her own.

4:37 left 3Q: Iowa starts third quarter on a run
Iowa kept IU at a distance to start the second half. Kate Martin hit a 3-pointer to give the Hawkeyes a 48-39 lead at the 7:23 mark. That is Iowa's largest lead of the game. The lead was extended by consecutive 3-pointers by Caitlin Clark and Gabbie Marshall.
The Hawkeyes are on a 9-0 run.

Halftime: Iowa holds 43-37 lead
While Caitlin Clark was on the bench, Molly Davis took over for Iowa. Davis scored 7 points in 2 minutes. But IU wouldn't go away.
Sydney Parrish's layup cut Iowa's lead to 37-33. Mackenzie Holmes had a chance to get the Hoosiers within one basket but missed both free throws with 1:45 left. At the :58 mark, Chloe Moore-McNeil made a layup, but it was followed by a Caitlin Clark 3. Clark hit yet another 3 with seconds left in the half.
Clark had 20 points in the first half. Holmes leads IU with 12 points and 4 rebounds.

Not much scoring early on in this quarter. Chloe Moore-McNiel scored the first points at the 8:14 mark to tie it at 19-19. Caitlin Clark hit her first 3-pointer at 6:53. She's 1 for 7 now.
Less than a minute later, she made another 3 to make the game 25-19. Iowa's Gabbie Marshall converted a 3 as well, but that was followed by Sydney Parrish's 3.

Chloe Moore-McNeil made a 3-pointer at the 8:23 mark to give IU a 4-3 lead. After that Iowa went on to score 6 straight points. Moore-McNiel's layup broke the streak, however. Indiana hasn't missed much so far (60% from the floor).
