Listen: John Wilkerson radio call of final out in Tennessee baseball national championship win

Tennessee baseball completed the journey on Monday, winning the program's first national championship in a 6-5 win over Texas A&M in the College World Series finals.

It was a nervy final half-inning, as a 6-3 Tennessee lead shrank to 6-5 after the Aggies scraped together two runs and had the tying run at the plate twice.

But Aaron Combs got the final out, striking out Texas A&M's Ted Burton swinging to secure the win and the national title.

Tennessee baseball radio play-by-play announcer John Wilkerson made a historic call upon the final out.

"Swing and a miss! That's the ball game! How about that?" Wilkerson exclaimed. "The Aggies score two in the ninth, but the Volunteers, Tennessee — the climb is complete! They have reached the summit! The Volunteers are the very best in college baseball, and the championship flag has been planted on Rocky Top!"

"For the 60th and final time this season, Tennessee says hello win column and hello national championship!"
