Liberty Hill running back Ben Carter voted Austin-area Boys Athlete of the Week
Liberty Hill running back Ben Carter, a senior who helped lead the Panthers to the Class 5A Division I state semifinals, has been voted the American-Statesman's Boys Athlete of the Week for the week of Dec. 4-9.
He's the second straight Liberty Hill player to be voted athlete of the week; Panthers running back Noah Long won for the previous week.
Carter received 64% of the vote, which took place during the week on statesman.com. Also nominated were Lake Travis basketball player Chas Biegel, Stony Point basketball player Josiah Moseley, Westlake linebacker Elliott Schaper and Wimberley quarterback Cody Stoever.
Carter was all over the field in a 42-35 loss to Port Neches-Groves in the state semifinals, scoring on touchdown runs of 85 and 74 yards. For the season, he finished with 2,585 yards and 31 touchdowns.
The Statesman will have a weekly vote for Boys Athlete of the Week and Girls Athlete of the Week throughout the academic year.
