LeBron James: I’m still serious about playing with Bronny in the NBA
On Saturday evening, Bronny James announced that he had committed to play basketball at the University of Southern California.
The 18-year-old, a four-star and top 25-ranked recruit, said in an Instagram post, “Fight On #committed,” alongside two pictures of himself: one in the Trojans’ locker room and another in a Trojan uniform.
The guard, who played high school basketball at Sierra Canyon in Los Angeles, chose USC over Oregon and Ohio State.
James was named a McDonald’s All-American, averaging 14.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.7 steals last season. He will join a USC team seeking to reach the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive time under head coach Andy Enfield.
Beyond his USC season, however, Bronny James faces an obvious question lots of people are asking, within and beyond Los Angeles: Will Bronny James and LeBron James play together as members of the L.A. Lakers?
“I was serious, and I’m still serious about it,” LeBron said.
The question for the father-son duo is how many more years LeBron James will choose to play, rather than whether Bronny James will be an NBA player.
After an up and down high school career, Bronny James is now a projected top-10 pick in the 2024 NBA draft.
The decision to commit to USC figures to make the Trojans one of the favorites in the NCAA Tournament next season. The team also secured commitments from the top recruit, Isaiah Collier, and the No. 4 overall center, Arrinten Page.
According to On3, Bronny’s NIL valuation is currently $7.4 million. That’s the highest mark (by far) among all amateur athletes, as no one else has a valuation of more than $3.5 million. Football player Arch Manning and gymnast Livvy Dunne are behind James.
