Latest on Rylan Griffen injury before Alabama basketball vs. Arkansas
Alabama basketball guard Rylan Griffen is day-to-day as of Friday, Crimson Tide coach Nate Oats said.
"The calf strain ... the MRI results were a lot better than we feared they might be," Oats said.
Griffen sustained the calf injury late in the game against Florida this past Tuesday in Gainesville. Oats said postgame he didn't know the extent of it and that Griffen would get an MRI on Wednesday. Griffen left the floor with the help of two people. The injury was the result of a collision.
"I'm not sure what, if it's a strain or something," Oats said Tuesday. "I thought he got hit and knocked out. I don't know, they thought it was a loose ball that both guys were going for."
This season, Griffen is averaging 11.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists over 26.3 minutes per game.
The Crimson Tide (20-10, 12-5 SEC) looks to close out the regular season with a victory over Arkansas (15-15, 6-11) on Saturday (11 a.m., ESPN) at Coleman Coliseum. With a win, Alabama will lock up a double-bye with seeding to be determined late Saturday night.
