Last-Tear Poa injury update: LSU player stretchered off floor vs. Ole Miss after hard hit

LSU women's basketball junior guard Last-Tear Poa went down with an injury in the fourth quarter of the Tigers' SEC Women's Tournament semifinals game vs. Ole Miss.

Poa exited the game after taking a hard hit on the floor while trying to draw an offensive charge from Ole Miss' Zakiya Stephenson at the 5:44 mark. She lay on the floor for several seconds, eventually standing up and leaning heavily on LSU teammates, including Angel Reese.

The 5-foot-11 guard attempted to leave the court on her own power but eventually lay back down before getting tended to by LSU trainers and medical staff at the arena, who stabilized her and stretchered her off.

Here is a brief clip of Poa's injury in which she takes a hard fall and hits the back of her head on the floor.

The SEC Network reported that Tigers coach Kim Mulkey told her team, who was emotional about the injury, that Poa's OK and that she was moving her legs.

ESPN reported that while Poa was receiving medical help, Reese gathered her teammates and refocused them for the final 5:44 of the game. Later, ESPN reported Poa would be transported to nearby St. Francis Hospital.

Following the Tigers' win over the Rebels, Reese joined ESPN's Brooke Weisbrod and talked to her teammate.

"Tonight was for Poa," Reese said after the game to ESPN's Brooke Weisbrod. When asked if she had a message for her teammate, Reese gave a "I love you Poa" with a blown kiss.

Mulkey after the game said Poa "took quite a lick" on the back of her head, though she had undergone a CT scan that came back "clean." She added that Poa was "unresponsive," specifying she couldn't articulate well when communicating.

LSU's women's basketball social media account later confirmed that Poa suffered a concussion. The team said she is expected to be released from the hospital.

LSU sophomore guard Flau'jae Johnson went on X (formerly known as Twitter) offering her prayers for her teammate: "4 POA, I love you baby pray 4 her. We need all positive love," Johnson wrote.
