Las Vegas Raiders draft picks 2023: Round-by-round selections
Here is a 2023 NFL draft pick-by-pick breakdown for the Las Vegas Raiders:
Round 1 (No. 7 overall) — Tyree Wilson, DE, Texas Tech: The Silver and Black bolster a 28th-ranked defense, adding a young edge presence to team with Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones. Wilson, a 6-6, 271-pounder with 14 sacks and 27½ TFLs over the past two seasons – even though his 2022 campaign was cut short by a broken foot – has size, speed and power and will be instantly charged with negating the damage Vegas will face from AFC West QBs Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert and Russell Wilson. The Raiders' 27 sacks in 2022 were the AFC's fewest. Draft tracker
Round 2 (35, from Colts) — Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame: The Silver and Black bump up three slots, coach Josh McDaniels perhaps seeking his next iteration of Rob Gronkowski. Mayer's size (6-5, 249 pounds) and blocking should be welcomed by 2022 rushing champ Josh Jacobs while giving QB Jimmy Garoppolo a red-zone threat alternative to WR Davante Adams. Mayer, a 2022 All-American, had 138 receptions for 1,649 yards and 16 TDs over past two seasons. Draft tracker
Round 3 (70) — Byron Young, DT, Alabama: Vegas continues adding depth up front one day after taking DE Tyree Wilson in Round 1. Young (6-4, 294) was quick enough to amass 20 TFLs in four seasons with the Tide. Draft tracker
Round 3 (100, special compensatory from Chiefs through Giants) — Tre Tucker, WR, Cincinnati: A speedy slot guy who caught 52 balls in 2022, you wonder if this means anything for Hunter Renfrow. Draft tracker
Round 4 (104, from Texans) — Jakorian Bennett, CB, Maryland Draft tracker
Round 4 (135, compensatory; from Patriots) — Aidan O'Connell, QB, Purdue Draft tracker
Round 5 (170, compensatory from Packers through Jets) — Christopher Smith II, S, Georgia Draft tracker
Round 6 (203, from Giants through Texans) — Amari Burney, LB, Florida Draft tracker
