Who knew FS1 college basketball analyst LaPhonso Ellis is such a huge Grippo's fan?

Fans who watched Xavier beat St. John's Wednesday night at Cintas Center do now, for sure.

While eating a bag of Grippo's alongside play-by-play announcer Connor Onion, Ellis explained that his favorite barbecue chip was red hot Jays (aka Jays Hot Stuff potato chips), before former Xavier Musketeers standout Brian Grant, who played in the NBA for 12 seasons, introduced him to Grippo's.

"I went to play for the Miami Heat, and met Xavier legend Brian Grant, who was my teammate," Ellis explained during the broadcast. "And we had a debate about who has the best chip. So he gave me one of these guys that he had actually ordered to his home. I tried it, and was like wow! Where have these been all my life? And since then, I've been a Grippo's lover. And what I learned today that I didn't know? Grippo's is the official chip of Xavier athletics. So they have them in plenty, in abundance here (at Cintas Center). And Brian Grant, not only a great basketball player, but one of the greatest people you'll ever meet also. Very generous, big-hearted guy, smart. One of my best teammates I had in my time playing in the league. But folks, these Grippo's potato chips are phenomenal."

"They have seasoning. Sorry, it's really hard to talk right now, (the chips are) really hot!" Onion replied. "That came really late. I was holding it together."

"I think the difference between the two is these (Grippo's) have a little bit of a sweetness, where as the red hot Jays are just hot," Ellis added. "I think these are the best barbecue chips out there. Grippo's, been making them fresh daily since 1919 with no preservatives."

"Are you the spokesman? You know a lot about these chips," Onion answered. "Those are really good. I don't taste anything sweet though. Just straight heat."

"Thank you, Brian Grant. I appreciate it. You introduced me to a really good one, big fella," Ellis concluded.

Ellis and Grant were teammates with the Heat from 2001 to 2003.
