Lane Kiffin Twitter troll of Tennessee football fans involves Morgan Wallen concert, golf ball game

OXFORD — Stop us if you've heard this before: Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin is having some fun with Tennessee fans on Twitter.

Country music artist Morgan Wallen – a proud Vols fan – is performing this weekend at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on Ole Miss' campus.

Kiffin posted a picture of a truck advertising Wallen's "One Night At A Time" tour with the following caption:

"If you build it they will come!! Amazing to see even @MorganWallen transferring to the Sip. Sorry @Vol_Football. It took 13 long years to win him back after being so angry with me that "one night" in Knoxville at Gibbs High School. #31-26."

There's so much to unpack here.

Kiffin left after one season as Tennessee's coach in 2009, taking the job at USC, where he spent 3.5 seasons.

And, of course, 31-26 is the score of Ole Miss' victory over the Vols in 2021. Kiffin also included a golfing emoji in his post. Tennessee fans seemed to throw a yellow golf ball at him in the closing stages of that win.

Kiffin and Wallen have had Twitter exchanges before. After Kiffin tagged Wallen in a post of Ole Miss practicing last March, Wallen responded that "(Tennessee coach Josh) Heupel is looking for a quality (offensive coordinator)."
