Did this Lakers usher make Jack Nicholson show his ticket?
The Los Angeles Lakers aren’t the only thing in the Staples Center to have fallen on hard times. Lakers super fan Jack Nicholson may or may not have had to show his ticket to an usher to prove he was actually sitting court side before Sunday night’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

We say “may or may not” because we only have a quick video clip of the exchange to dissect.

You can see Nicholson two seconds into the video showing his ticket to a Lakers usher before being waved to his seat. The tweet seems to suggest the usher asked Nicholson to present his ticket, but was that really the case?
Considering where the video picks up, we can’t be sure. You would think the ushers would know Nicholson at this point. He’s not just one of the best actors in recent memory, but he sits court side at Lakers games all the time. He should be pretty recognizable.
At the same time, Nicholson hasn’t appeared in a movie sine 2010, and it’s possible a new person could have been working in his section Friday night. With LeBron James and the Cavaliers in town, perhaps security was tighter than normal.
Even then, we’re not sure we’re buying it. Nicholson may have just pulled the ticket out to show the usher just because. Sure, he’s sat court side a bunch of times, but maybe he adheres to the rules just like everyone else. It’s better to just show the ticket and avoid any potential hassle.
After a Zapruder-style breakdown of the video, that’s the way we’re leaning at the moment. You can see the usher tap Nicholson on the shoulder as he passes by. That suggests that the two are probably familiar with each other. Either that, of that usher decided to get extremely friendly with Nicholson after having no idea who he was.
That’s a total guess based on context clues, though.
So, we leave it up to you to decide, loyal commenters. Did some Lakers usher actually demand to see Jack Nicholson’s ticket Sunday night? Or was he kind enough to present it to the usher because that’s what you’re supposed to do?
