Lake Travis guard Claire Kolkhorst, whose 32 points in only 20 minutes of playing time helped the Cavaliers to a 55-42 win over Dripping Springs, was voted the Covert Chevrolet Bastrop Austin-area Girls Athlete of the Week for Dec. 18-23.

Kolkhorst received 56% of the vote after hitting nine of her 12 3-point shots in Lake Travis' District 26-6A victory over the Tigers.

McCallum's Sam Cowles, Georgetown's Reese Hoadley, Glenn's Soma Okolo and Hendrickson's Niyah Waters also were candidates. Hoadley had won the previous week's poll for Dec. 11-16.

The Statesman will have a weekly vote for Girls Athlete of the Week and Boys Athlete of the Week throughout the academic year.
