The Buffalo Bills have reportedly agreed to terms on a one-year contract with veteran offensive tackle La’el Collins. It is believed to be worth a possible $6.25 million, but the salary cap hit will be much less.

Collins is a 6-foot-4, 320-pounder who has started 86 of the 89 NFL games he has played for the Cowboys and Bengals.

Collins was considered a first-round draft pick in 2015 when he came out of LSU, but he went undrafted due to an off the field incident. The Louisiana State police spoke to him about the shooting death of a pregnant woman who he had previously been in a relationship with, though he was not involved in any way with what happened.

He wound up signing as an undrafted free agent with the Cowboys and became a starter in his rookie season. Collins spent the first six years of his career in Dallas, missing all of 2020, the Covid season. He rejoined the Cowboys in 2021 but after that season, Dallas tried to find a trade partner and could not, so he was released and he signed with the Bengals for 2022, starting 15 games.

Last year he was released following training camp and did not play in 2023.

If he makes the team, Collins will provide veteran depth behind starters Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown.
