Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart holds a lot of respect for the Texas Longhorns. He thinks Texas is among the best teams in the country and that the Longhorns will offer a unique challenge for Georgia.

Smart considers Texas to be the most complete team that Georgia has faced this season, which is notable because Georgia has already played against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Kirby Smart thinks that there is a lot of similarity between UGA quarterback Carson Beck and Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers.

Georgia is underdogs for the first time in years. The Bulldogs have been atop the college football mountain for quite some time, so the Texas game encompasses a rare opportunity for both Georgia and the Longhorns.

A win would allow Georgia to ascend up the SEC standings and create a clear path for the Bulldogs to advance to Atlanta. A loss would give UGA its second SEC loss and likely prevent Georgia from making the SEC championship game.

A win for Texas would be the Longhorns' biggest regular season home win in recent memory and give Texas a signature win in its first season in the SEC. A loss means that Texas is no longer the top team in the country and that the Longhorns still have a lot of work to do if they want to play in Atlanta.

Here's what Kirby Smart said ahead of Georgia's game against No. 1 Texas.

On Texas star receiver Isaiah Bond

Former Alabama wide receiver Isaiah Bond has 21 receptions for 369 yards and three touchdowns in his first season with Texas. Bond caught five passes for 79 yards against Georgia in the 2023 SEC championship game.

"He's electric. He's a great release guy. You know, they got other good wide outs," Kirby Smart said. "They did a great job of upgrading their talent pool in the portal."

On Texas' rushing attack

Texas Longhorns running back Quintrevion Wisner leads Texas in rushing yards with 278 yards on 45 carries. Wisner has added two touchdowns.

"Tough. Man, they run well. They've got really fast physical backs. They've got three backs that all play and do a great job," noted Smart. "They've also got probably one of the deepest, most talented offensive lines in the country. They've got multiple guys that will be high draft picks, and they're really physical."

On Texas being the most complete team UGA has played

"The most complete team that we've seen or faced this year and probably in multiple years when you look at what they're doing defensively, offensively and special teams," said Smart. "They are clearly one of the best teams in the country with what they do. Got a great quarterback, great defense, great scheme.

"They're both really good," said Smart on Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning. "Quinn's (Ewers) a great player, and they got a great quarterback situation because they've got two guys that both are capable of winning and playing well."

Smart talks his relationship with Steve Sarkisian

"A lot of respect for Sark (Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian). I've gotten to know Sark really well over the last couple years," said Smart. "We take a trip every year together and really enjoy getting to know him and have a lot of respect for the job he does."
