Kim Mulkey joins Terry Bradshaw, other Louisiana Tech greats to have statues unveiled
Kim Mulkey was on hand a few years ago outside the Thomas Assembly Center in Ruston as Louisiana Tech unveiled a statue for her former coach and mentor, Hall of Famer Leon Barmore.
Soon, it'll be time for Barmore to return the favor to his former star point guard and protégé.
Louisiana Tech announced Wednesday that Mulkey, the head coach of LSU women's basketball who just led the team to its first NCAA championship will have her statue revealed – along with Bulldog legends Terry Bradshaw, Karl Malone, Teresa Weatherspoon, Willie Roaf and the late Fred Dean – Sept. 20 at A.L. Williams Champions Plaza outside Joe Aillet Stadium.
Mulkey, Bradshaw, Malone, Weatherspoon and Roaf are scheduled to be in attendance for the ceremony, which will begin at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Tech initially had the unveilings slated for Aug. 25 but one of the monuments hadn't arrived on time so the ceremony was pushed back.
