Kickoff time, TV slot decided for Missouri football at Alabama. Here’s when Tigers play Tide

Ready for Tuscaloosa?

Missouri football is on its way to face Alabama on Oct. 26, at Bryant-Denny Stadium, a week after a remarkable, 21-17 comeback win over the other half of the Iron Bowl on Saturday in Columbia that was spearheaded by as gutsy of an individual performance as you’re ever likely to see from quarterback Brady Cook.

Now, the Tigers are getting a prime-time window on a national TV slot.

The SEC announced Saturday evening that Missouri at Alabama will kick off at 2:30 p.m. CDT and air on ABC.

And what a game, with fascinating consequences for both teams, the Tigers at the Tide could turn out to be.

Mizzou (6-1, 2-1 SEC) kept its College Football Playoff hopes — and, with results elsewhere around the league, its SEC Championship hopes — alive by staging an 11-point, fourth-quarter comeback over Auburn.

Alabama (5-2, 2-2), meanwhile, is on the verge of playing its way out of both after a 24-17 loss on Rocky Top to Tennessee on Saturday afternoon. The Tide’s past three games: A loss to Vanderbilt; a two-point win over South Carolina; and a loss on the ‘Third Saturday in October.’

Another loss all but guarantees Alabama is out of the running for a playoff spot and a trip to Atlanta.

No teams in the SEC is undefeated on the season, and only Texas A&M and LSU (who play each other next weekend) are unbeaten in conference play, so ’Bama has not officially been eliminated from contention for either.

Mizzou, with a win, would overnight become a front-runner for a CFP spot. A loss doesn’t necessarily eliminate the Tigers from contention, but they would have no room for a mistake over the course of November and probably need results elsewhere to fall in their favor.

Before Saturday’s slate of games, three different kickoff windows spanning the afternoon and evening time slots were tabbed as possibilities for Missouri’s trip to Tuscaloosa. The Tigers and Crimson Tide were given one of two ABC games available.

It’ll be a big time game in front of a national audience: 2:30 p.m., ABC.
