Kendric Davis, former Memphis basketball star, earns spot on NBA G League All-Rookie Team
Former Memphis basketball All-Amercian Kendric Davis landed a spot on the NBA G League All-Rookie Team, it was announced Thursday.
Davis, who led the Tigers to the AAC tournament championship and a spot in the NCAA tournament during the 2022-23 season, put together a stellar season (his first as a pro) with the Santa Cruz Warriors. He averaged 18.7 points on 42.2% shooting from the field, shot 35.8% from 3-point range, and had 4.6 rebounds, 8.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game 34 games (all starts).
The native of Houston is the second former Memphis Tigers player to earn NBA G League All-Rookie Team accolades in as many years. Last season, former Tigers and current Golden State Warriors guard Lester Quinones also was honored after posting averages of 17.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game with Santa Cruz. Quinones played 37 games this season with Golden State, averaging 4.4 points in just more than 10 minutes per game.
Others with Memphis connections to score G League All-Rookie Team honors include former Memphis Hustle standout Kenneth Lofton Jr. (who was G League Rookie of the Year last season), former Tigers forward/guard Adonis Thomas and Memphis native Chris Chiozza, who played at White Station.
